‘Boost with Facebook’ is a 3 days digital training organized by Orange Cameroon digital center and implemented by KINAYA ventures to impact digital skills and enable businesses to thrive amid COVID19; the training was done through an online webinar and offline at Orange digital center Douala, Cameroon. 15 women, including the Fancy Glow marketing director Ashu Ayem Epouse Nkumbe Maureen Akorsong, were selected to participate in this training.

Fancy Glow by mabetan is a UNISEX skincare brand made in Cameroon for light, brown and dark skin complexion (www.fancyglow.mabetan.com). This digital masterclass training took place from the 13th of January 2021 to Friday the 15th of January 2021. The skills acquired will be used to manage Fancy Glow’s social media pages, boost sales and interact better with customers.

The Orange Digital Center is a concept that consolidates in one place, all programs ranging from training through support to the acceleration of start-ups and investment in them. This to create an ecosystem around innovation. Since the signing in 2000 of the United Nations’ global pact, Orange Cameroon has been resolutely committed to digital transformation by linking populations and particularly young people, to digital professions.

Kinaya Ventures is a Dakar / Abidjan based innovation platform that connects promising startups to large corporations and investors and fosters open innovation in Francophone Africa. Kinaya Ventures has designed Spring Fellowship, an accelerator fund backed by corporate partners that combines support to scale and seed funding, which is dedicated to innovative entrepreneurs.

The training started with the digital skills necessary to create, manage, interact with clients and analyze business performance over time using a Facebook page done by Fadimata BA. Techniques and tips on how to write good content with videos and pictures, targeting the right audience through Facebook ads, surveys, FAQs and Facebook groups. Apps like mojo, Ripl and Vimeo can make short videos and entertaining content for social media. There was also a practical session on how to take quality and attractive pictures with mobile phones to post on the social media handles of the business for more visibility and marketing. This practical session was done by Orphee Noumbissi of THE STUDIO Bonapriso, Cameroon.

Day 2 was all about using Instagram (IG) to promote and boost sales of Tricia Carien. The women were thought about the functionality of IG and how important it is to have an online store on IG. Just like Facebook, promotions can be done on a business page on IG to maximize sales. Insights on IG give an entrepreneur a clear picture and detailed customer behaviour activity, which Can come in very handy during specific campaigns or any other data analysis. After the training, Brice Albin of Sweet FM interviewed Doris Fonkang of Lakelle 237, a Cameroonian brand dealing in fast mode fashion for men, women and children.

Day 3 training emphasized the benefits of optimizing WhatsApp business to boost sales, increase clientele and keep in touch with customers. Whatsapp business has more features than Whatsapp. It is a perfect tool for entrepreneurs because it can display products and their prices on the catalogue visible to customers whenever they click on the Whatsapp business link. Using ‘business tools,’ it is possible to set automatic messages when you are away or when new customers engage in a chat. There is also an option to reuse frequent messages and make quick replies, not forgetting to organize work through labels like a new customer, new order, pending payments, paid, and order completion. All these tools are for a better customer service experience. Brice Albin had another brief interview with Frida 54, Le Beauty Bar and Central Pharmacy Douala, who shared their experiences as entrepreneurs to encourage the 15 women present and other entrepreneurs who were watching online to be resilient, persistent and consistent in their various businesses.
